Punjab Kings (PBKS), earlier known as Kings XI Punjab, were among the first 8 teams to have been part of the IPL in 2008, but are yet to win a title. Their only final appearance was in 2014. The management’s tendency to keep chopping and changing could not bring the best out of the team. Here’s a list of 5 players who have failed miserably for the franchise.

#1 Aaron Finch

Former Australian captain Aaron Finch was one of the best batters of all time in T20 internationals. However, he could not perform to the best of his abilities in the IPL and scored only 134 runs in the 10 matches he played for the franchise.

#2 Glenn Maxwell

Known for his explosive batting skills, Glenn Maxwell has scored 8451 runs in T20 cricket with an impressive strike rate of 151 and an average of 28. His impressive performances have made him a highly sought-after player in the IPL, with his auction price often reflecting his value. However, his standout performances only occurred during the 2014 and 2017 seasons, with his performance in the remaining three seasons (2015, 2016, and 2020) being notably subpar. As a result, PBKS ultimately decided to release him from the team.

#3 Yuvraj Singh

Yuvraj Singh, an exceptional middle-order batsman, was among India’s finest in the shortest format of the game. His contribution was pivotal in India’s victory in the inaugural edition of the T20 World Cup. Yuvraj has represented six different IPL franchises, namely MI, SRH, PWI, RCB, DC, and PBKS. During his tenure with his home state franchise, he played 51 matches and scored 969 runs with an average of 22 and a strike rate of 128.

#4 Marcus Stoinis

The 33-year-old Australian all-rounder has loads of experience in the format. He made his IPL debut with PBKS way back in 2016 but scored just 262 runs across 19 matches in the 3 seasons he played.

#5 Nicholas Pooran

During his time with PBKS, Pooran participated in 33 matches, scoring 606 runs at an average of 22 and a strike rate of 155. However, despite these seemingly decent numbers, Pooran’s standout performance occurred during only one season – 2020.

In the 2021 IPL season, Pooran had a dismal individual performance, ranking among the worst batting performances in IPL history. He scored a mere 85 runs in 11 innings, earning four ducks.
