The Sunrisers Hyderabad leg-spinner Mayank Markande bowled a slower, flighted delivery that tricked Will Jacks in the first over. This dismissal was Hyderabad’s second breakthrough against the Royal Challengers Bengaluru. It happened at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium on April 25th.

RCB wanted to establish a foundation in the middle overs and relied on Will Jacks to produce a knock similar to his previous encounter versus KKR. However, the Englishman got off to a slow start, scoring only six runs from his first eight deliveries, and felt compelled to get going.

Jacks attempted a massive shot throughout Markande’s over, but was unable to hit. The right-handed hitter eventually tried a wild sweep shot, but the drifted, slower ball was probably not full enough for the sweep. The ball escaped the bat before striking the top of the off stump in nearly slow motion.

Mayank Markande celebrated the wicket with a casual shrug, similar to his former partner Jasprit Bumrah. The two had shared the dressing room during the leg-spinner’s brief stay with the Mumbai Indians (MI). Take a look at the wicket and dismissal here:

The leg-spinner has used his variations well, whether it’s pace or delivery style, to keep opposing batters on their toes. He had castled Virat Kohli when these two sides played at the Chinnaswamy Stadium in mid-April, just as he had gone through Jacks’ stroke in the existing match.

The main difference was the kind of delivery, since Kohli’s was cleverly hidden. The ace batsman had gone down on one knee to play the sweep, but the ball merely connected with air as it passed through the space between the bat and body and crashed into the stumps.
