In a game at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium, Royal Challengers Bengaluru’s Will Jacks faced an unlucky dismissal. It happened during the 2024 IPL match versus the Sunrisers Hyderabad on April 15.
The England international, who made his RCB debut in the loss to MI, came out to bat in the seventh over of the 288-run chase. He started his innings with a four off Jaydev Unadkat, as RCB required a significant push in the middle overs following Kohli’s exit.
RCB captain Faf Du Plessis attempted a grounded stroke past Unadkat with the penultimate ball of the eighth over. However, the left-arm pacer was able to reach down in time to block the ball’s advance. The ball deflected from his hand and struck the stumps.
Will Jacks had already retreated too far. He was really far from the crease when the bails were removed at the non-striker’s end. The deflection was so big, the on-field umpire ruled it out right away without checking with the third umpire.

Will Jacks has had a difficult start to his IPL career, being bowled for eight runs on his debut. With the ball, he finished with 1-24 in two overs against MI and 0-32 in three overs against SRH.

The England international’s dismissal dropped RCB to 100-2 after eight overs, and they rapidly rose to 122-5 after a few overs. Rajat Patidar, Du Plessis, and Saurav Chauhan were all removed in short succession, denting RCB’s run chase.
Dinesh Karthik had to work tirelessly to get RCB near to the total of 262/7 without significantly affecting the net run rate. The experienced wicketkeeper batsman hit 83 runs off 35 deliveries, including five fours and seven sixes. One of the seven sixes traveled 108 meters, becoming the longest six in the competition.
