Jasprit Bumrah, Mumbai Indians’ ace bowler, gave a phenomenal start against Punjab Kings in their IPL 2024 match at Mullanpur. The speedster dismissed Sam Curran, Punjab’s stand-in captain, and Rilee Rossouw. This left Punjab reeling at 14/3 in just two overs. Jasprit Bumrah exceptional bowling made an immediate impact, putting Punjab on the backfoot early in the game.

Jasprit Bumrah initially delivered a full-length ball that swung back late, and Rossouw attempted a drive but did not use his feet. The ball uprooted the off and middle stumps, beating the left-hander in terms of velocity and swing. Rossouw, who replaced under-fire Jonny Bairstow in the playing XI, went for one run off three balls.

In the same over, Jasprit Bumrah produced another fuller delivery down the leg side, which Curran attempted to flick to the fine leg. However, the left-hander managed to provide a thick edge to Ishan Kishan behind the stumps. Surprisingly, the on-field umpire gave it out, but MI received an excellent review. Curran departed the field having scored six runs off seven balls.

Handy contributions from Rohit Sharma (36 off 25) and Tilak Varma’s breezy 34* off 18 balls had propelled Mumbai to that total.

Harshal Patel shined with the ball for Punjab, ending with 3/31, while captain Curran took two wickets.
