Royal Challengers Bengaluru’s (RCB) batting star Virat Kohli faced a rare batting failure in the IPL 2024 season. He struggled against Mumbai Indians (MI), scoring just 3 runs off 9 deliveries. This low score came at the Wankhede Stadium on April 11th.
Kohli has been in excellent form this season, but he struggled to reach the center of the bat throughout his brief innings. MI captain Hardik Pandya called in Jasprit Bumrah in the third over, and after a few plays-and-misses, the star quick finally caught the big fish.
Virat Kohli attempted to take Bumrah on by hitting a decent length ball to deep midwicket. However, the ball nibbled back, taking Kohli’s inside edge, and Ishan Kishan made an excellent catch diving to his left.
Jasprit Bumrah and the other Mumbai Indians players were understandably overjoyed, as they insured that the current Orange Cap holder did not get off to a flying start again. Here’s a video:
This bowler has given away 140 runs against that star batter in 16 innings. However, he just got him out for the 5th time. Very few bowlers globally can boast of having the edge over such a batting great.
RCB rocked early by MI’s pace battery
Mumbai Indians started their innings with Mohammad Nabi’s off-spin. However, their three pacers, Jasprit Bumrah, Gerald Coetzee, and Akash Madhwal, had all been spot on at the time of writing.
Will Jacks, making his debut for RCB, attempted a number of boundaries before hitting one straight into Tim David’s hands at mid-on. The visitors require skipper Faf du Plessis to bat deep and develop a combination with Rajat Patidar and the others. Mumbai, on the other hand, will understand the necessity of getting wickets on a regular basis.
