Ishan Kishan displayed alertness on Sunday, April 7. Ishan Kishan wicketkeeper for Mumbai Indians (MI). His sharp reflexes resulted in Axar Patel getting run out. Axar was playing for Delhi Capitals (DC). This happened during their IPL 2024 match in Mumbai.

With Delhi Capitals needing 42 runs from the last 9 balls, Axar Patel played a shot off Romario Shepherd’s delivery. The ball went towards the leg side. Mohammad Nabi fielded it from deep mid-wicket. He threw it directly towards the striker’s end. Ishan Kishan’s presence of mind led to Axar’s dismissal.

Axar Patel anticipated that the throw would strike him and attempted to avoid it by moving out of the way of the ball’s direction. However, he was caught ball-watching in the process, as Ishan Kishan quickly recovered the ball and removed the bails, leaving the all-rounder comfortably short of the crease.

Here’s the video of the run-out:

When Axar Patel stepped out to bat, DC still had a slim chance of chasing the total. That’s probably why the guests were so disappointed with his 8(7) innings.

Tristan Stubbs’ rearguard wasn’t enough for DC to beat MI

With three fours and seven sixes, Tristan Stubbs stirred some feathers in the Mumbai Indians camp and threatened to steal the game away from his old team. However, Stubbs did not have enough help from the other end, as wickets fell at regular intervals.

Rishabh Pant (1), Axar Patel (8), and Lalit Yadav (3) failed to keep up with the required run rate alongside Stubbs. They were restricted to 205/8 in their allotted 20 overs. Mumbai secured a 29-run victory, opening their account in the IPL 2024 points table.

The Capitals have now lost four out of their five games, languishing at the bottom of the points table. Injuries to key players like Mitchell Marsh and Mukesh Kumar have compounded their woes. They need a miraculous turnaround to salvage their season.
