Jasprit Bumrah of the Mumbai Indians (MI) once again shown why he was perhaps the finest T20 bowler in the world with a fantastic over at the tail end of Royal Challengers Bengaluru’s (RCB) innings on Thursday, April 11.

Bumrah gave just five runs in the 17th over and took wickets on consecutive deliveries, putting RCB farther behind in their quest for a 200-plus total. Faf du Plessis and Dinesh Karthik had built themselves up beautifully to burst at the end of the innings.

However, Du Plessis failed to catch Bumrah’s low full toss right out of the center, and Tim David made a great running grab at long-on. Here’s a video:

Another powerful hitter, Mahipal Lomror, went out to the crease and could have scored significant runs given his form. But Jasprit Bumrah’s toe-crusher was too excellent for the southpaw, who was ruled leg before wicket for a golden duck. Here’s a video:

There was a clear difference between Jasprit Bumrah and the other MI bowlers, as seen by their performance levels.

Most of the bowlers had an economy rate more than 10, but Bumrah concluded with amazing statistics of 5/21. The big wicket of Virat Kohli early was huge, and Bumrah provided the hosts the momentum they needed.

The twin blows in the 17th and 19th overs enabled him record a magnificent five-wicket haul, and he is now the Purple Cap holder. RCB, on the other hand, would be pleased with 196/8, thanks to Dhinesh Karthik’s exceptional half-century, which helped them come as near to 200 runs as possible.

MI’s objective might have been even higher if Bumrah had not delivered another amazing performance.
