Rajat Patidar of Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) made an easy catch beyond the boundary line beside the dugout against a breathtaking Virat Kohli six in a match against SunRisers Hyderabad (SRH). On Thursday, April 25, Patidar was set up as the next batter at Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium.
Midway through T Natarajan’s final powerplay over, ace hitter Virat Kohli hit a full pitch for a six to the long-on boundary. Kohli perfectly timed his shot.
Patidar stood up from his place in the dugout, casually caught the ball, and returned it before returning to his seat. Teammate Glenn Maxwell even patted him on the back for his efforts.
Have a look at the catch right here:
Rajat Patidar is a somewhat consistent fielder who has made a lot of impressive catches over his career. He had taken a brilliant catch at short leg to dispatch Ben Duckett on his Test debut in Vizag a few months before.
Rajat Patidar scored a sublime fifty to boost RCB’s innings
Patidar had to bat immediately after his brief foray beyond the boundary. Following Will Jacks’ expulsion, the right-handed hitter came out to bat in the eighth inning.
Patidar built on his outstanding performance against the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) at Eden Gardens. On that occasion, he scored 52 runs off 23 deliveries, and this time he continued his attack just as RCB needed a boost in the middle overs.
Rajat Patidar ended up hitting 50 runs off 20 deliveries, including two fours and a six, for a strike rate of 250. In his 100th IPL appearance, he holed out to the deep off Jaydev Unadkat’s bowling, bringing RCB to 130-3 in the 13th over.
His knock has created an excellent opportunity for players such as Caemron Green and Dinesh Karthik to exploit. Only a daunting score can stop the in-form SRH batting lineup against an erratic RCB bowling team.
