India’s batting icon Virat Kohli ended his frustrating slump versus Sunrisers Hyderabad. The Royal Challengers Bengaluru talisman fell to a mistimed pull, finding the deep fielder off Jaydev Unadkat’s bowling. This dismissal occurred during the high-octane IPL 2024 clash between the two franchises on April 25.

Despite reaching a half-century, Virat Kohli failed to get started following the powerplay. Slower balls into the pitch and away from Kohli’s arc benefited Unadkat, as the star hitter could only knock one straight into the palms of deep square leg.

Virat Kohli would know it was a routine knock since the pitch appeared to play nicely. His 51 from 43 balls featured a post-powerplay stint in which he scored only 19 runs in 25 balls, indicating a further decline.

Despite losing Faf du Plessis and Will Jacks relatively cheaply, RCB had momentum at the midway mark owing to a spectacular cameo from Rajat Patidar. The right-hander dominated the opposition in an innings that featured four consecutive maximums off leg-spinner Mayank Markande.

However, the partnership was ended when Patidar smashed a low full toss from Jaydev Unadkat into the palms of deep square leg. Virat Kohli was unable to capitalize on Patidar’s momentum and eventually perished.

Cameron Green’s helpful cameo of 37* helped the Royal Challengers reach their objective of 207. However, against the SunRisers Hyderabad batting, the visitors may believe they are 15-20 runs short.

RCB got off to a strong start with the ball, returning Travis Head for just 1(3). But Abhishek Sharma is off to another blazing start. He is the wicket Bengaluru requires to dominate the second innings.
