Yuzvendra Chahal made IPL history. The Rajasthan Royals bowler took 350 T20 wickets. He is the first Indian player to reach this mark. Chahal did it in the match against Delhi Capitals on May 7.
Yuzvendra Chahal got out Rishabh Pant for 15 runs in the 14th over. This helped Chahal reach 350 wickets in IPL games. Earlier this season, Chahal became the first bowler to take 200 wickets in IPL history. He did this against the Mumbai Indians team.
Chahal was born in Haryana. In his great career, he has 96 wickets in T20I matches. He also has 201 wickets in IPL matches. Chahal is 11th on the list of bowlers with most wickets in T20 matches. Dwayne Bravo leads this list with 625 wickets.
He ranks fifth all-time among spinners, after only Rashid Khan, Sunil Narine, Imran Tahir, and Shakib Al Hasan.
Chahal won the Purple Cap in 2022 with 27 wickets and is now tied for sixth with 14 scalps in the ongoing season.
Yuzvendra Chahal endures another dismal outing despite the 350-wicket landmark
Despite the milestone evening, Yuzvendra Chahal had another dismal performance with the ball in the DC match in Delhi.
After taking his first wicket and reaching the milestone, the 33-year-old went around the mark to end with dismal stats of 1/48 in 4 overs. Chahal allowed 21 in his penultimate over, making it his fourth straight session in which he gave out more than 40 runs.
The champion leggie had his most costly spell of 0/62 in RR’s last game against SunRisers Hyderabad (SRH). Chahal also got numbers of 1/52 two games before the SRH match against the Kolkata Knight Riders.
Chahal’s poor record comes at a bad time for RR and Team India, since the IPL playoffs and T20 World Cup are quickly approaching.
In the continuing match, Chahal’s subpar last over sparked a DC attack in the next few overs, resulting with a mammoth 221/8 in 20 overs.
While RR leads the points table with eight victories in ten games, a defeat will result in back-to-back losses for the first time this season.
