Rajat Patidar threw away his wicket on Day 3 of India’s third Test against England in Rajkot on Saturday (February 17). Rajat Patidar was dismissed after scoring only five runs in the first innings, giving him a 10-ball duck.
The dismissal came on the stroke of stumps in the 48th over of India’s second innings. Tom Hartley sent a length ball outside, which the right-hander short-arm stabbed to Rehan Ahmed at midwicket. The cameramen quickly captured head coach Rahul Dravid’s dissatisfied expression.

With Rajat Patidar’s wicket, England eventually got their second wicket when centurion Yashasvi Jaiswal departed due to back spasms.
Rajat Patidar had previously scored 32 and nine in two innings in his Test debut. He is expected to be replaced by KL Rahul in the following Test.
India pile on 300+ lead despite Rajat Patidar’s cheap wicket on third day
Yashasvi Jaiswal and Shubman Gill delivered polished batting performances to help India increase its 322-run advantage at stumps on Saturday. Jaiswal struck 104* from 133 deliveries, hitting five sixes and nine boundaries. Gill also remained undefeated at 65 off 120, striking two sixes and six boundaries.
At stumps on Day 3, India was 196/2 after 51 overs, with Gill and Kuldeep Yadav at the crease.
Earlier on Day 3, the visitors were dismissed for 319 in their first innings due to a batting collapse. They lost their last eight wickets for only 95 runs. Ben Duckett excelled with the bat, scoring 153 off 151 balls, including two sixes and 23 boundaries.
Mohammed Siraj shone for India, claiming four wickets. Additionally, Ravindra Jadeja and Kuldeep Yadav each snagged two wickets.
India batted first and scored 445 runs, led by centuries from Rohit Sharma (131 off 196) and Ravindra Jadeja (112 off 225). Debutants Sarfaraz Khan and Dhruv Jurel showed promise with the bat, scoring 62 (66) and 46 (104), respectively.
Mark Wood returned with four wickets for England, while Rehan Ahmed claimed two.
This five-game face-off between the players is level at 1-1, neither team taking the lead just yet.
