Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) scored 182/6 in the first innings of the IPL 2024’s tenth match against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) on Friday at the M.Chinnaswamy Stadium.
KKR captain Shreyas Iyer won the toss and chose to bowl first in the match. Virat Kohli scored an impressive 83* (59) to help his team to a respectable total on a two-paced surface.
He began aggressively in the powerplay but toned it down in the middle overs, playing the anchor role before hitting some huge shots in the death overs. Cameron Green (33), Glenn Maxwell (28), and Dinesh Karthik (20) all contributed significantly to his batting performance.
KKR’s pricey acquisition Mitchell Starc’s difficulties with the ball continued, as he lost 47 runs in his four-over period without taking a wicket. Andre Russell and Harshit Rana shined with the ball, taking two wickets each.

At the mid-innings break, RCB all-rounder Cameron Green reflected on the events of the first innings, saying:
“We’re pretty happy with the total. We saw how the pitch is playing, so hopefully it stays the same in the second innings. (Batting at no.3) I love playing there, getting a lot of freedom. It’s always fun to bat with Virat. Good fun again today.”
