In an unusual event, Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) fielders Ramandeep Singh and Sunil Narine dropped Royal Challengers Bengaluru’s (RCB) Glenn Maxwell in the current Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 match on Friday.

Glenn Maxwell was on 11 off 10 when Ramandeep dropped a routine chance at deep midwicket off Sunil Narine in the 13th over, giving him his first reprieve. In the following over, the latter dropped the right-hander to third man off Harshit Rana.

Despite surviving twice in the tournament, Glenn Maxwell did not score well. The right-handed batsman scored 28 runs off 19 balls, including one six and three boundaries. Rinku Singh caught him at sweeper cover off Narine in the fifteenth over.

Glenn Maxwell had earlier returned with a golden duck and three runs against Chennai Super Kings and Punjab Kings (PBKS) in the franchise’s first two games. The Bengaluru-based club retained him for INR 11 crore ahead of the IPL 2024 season.

The off-spin bowle­r took two wickets versus PBKS. Howeve­r, RCB won that match by four wickets, securing their initial IPL victory this se­ason.

Virat Kohli’s polished batting effort helped RCB score 182/6 against KKR in their allocated 20 overs in the IPL on Friday. Kohli remained unbeaten on 83 from 59 deliveries in an innings that featured four sixes and as many boundaries. He came in as an opener and remained till the 20th over.

After skipper Faf du Plessis left early, the right-handed batsman and Cameron Green put up 65 runs for the second wicket. Cameron Green, Glenn Maxwell, and Dinesh Karthik scored 33 (21), 28 (19), and 20*8, respectively.

Andre Russell and Harshit Rana shined with the ball for KKR, taking two wickets each. Sunil Narine also claimed one wicket.
