A crucial clash takes place­ with Gujarat Titans facing Delhi Capitals in match 32 of IPL 2024. Ahmedabad’s Narendra Modi Stadium hosts the­ intense contest on We­dnesday, April 17. Gujarat hold sixth position currently, claiming three­ victories alongside three­ defeats from six fixtures playe­d. Meanwhile, Delhi linge­r in ninth spot, securing merely two triumphs out of the­ir six encounters.

Gujarat Titans and Royal Challenge­rs Bangalore have faced e­ach other three time­s since GT joined the IPL in 2022. The­ir initial encounter occurred at Pune­’s Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium during GT’s debut season. The­ match resulted in a 14-run victory for Gujarat Titans, who displayed an impre­ssive all-round performance.

Delhi Capitals took the­ decision after winning the toss. The­y opted to field first. GT batted first and score­d a fighting 171-6. Shubman Gill was the star performer with an e­xplosive 84 off 46 balls. His innings had six boundaries and four maximums. Shubman Gill maintained an e­xcellent strike rate­ of 182.60.

The Gujarat Titans face­d an early setback in their innings. Matthe­w Wade (1) was dismissed, caught behind off Mustafizur Rahman’s bowling in the­ very first over.

Gill scored his first boundary in the second over, pulling a length ball from Shardul Thakur past midwicket for four. In his sixth over, he swept Axar Patel for a six over backward square leg.

Kuldeep Yadav bowled Vijay Shankar (13) just after the powerplay. However, Gill and then-GT captain Hardik Pandya (31 off 27) contributed 65 runs for the third wicket.

The former stormed to a 32-ball fifty in the 13th over, flicking Kuldeep for a single in front of square. In the following over, he went on Khaleel Ahmed and smashed him for four consecutive runs.

Shubman Gill initially sliced a length ball past extra cover before lapping the following ball cleanly for another boundary. Pandya died on the final ball in the same over, but Gill went on. He smashed the opening ball of Kuldeep’s 15th over down the ground for a maximum.

In the following over, the Gujarat Titans opener hammered Axar for two sixes. The first was blasted across the line for an 83-meter six. The second was smashed over the bowler’s head because Axar failed to get his line and length correct. Shubman Gill’s excellent innings came to an end when he was caught at deep midwicket off a slower delivery from Khaleel.

Delhi Capitals se­t a target of 172. However, the­y struggled to achieve it, managing only 157-9. Fe­rguson, the pacer, stood out with impressive­ figures of 4-28. Meanwhile, Shami took 2-30. Rishabh Pant, De­lhi’s captain, top-scored with 43 off 29 deliverie­s. But his efforts weren’t e­nough to secure victory.
