Hardik Pandya is the captain of Mumbai Indians (MI) team. He played against SunRisers Hyderabad (SRH) on Monday in IPL 2024 match. During the match, Hardik took a wicket. For this, Rohit Sharma praised Hardik for his good performance.

The moment came at the start of the 16th over, when Hardik bowled SRH all-rounder Shahbaz Ahmed, providing a critical breakthrough for the hosts. After a slow knock of 10 off 12 balls, Shabhaz sought to boost the ante by hitting the whole ball to the long-on zone.

However, he was unable to achieve the proper time as the ball flew far into the air. Suryakumar Yadav came sprinting from the deep and made a safe sliding grab. After the catch was completed, Rohit Sharma approached the bowler, Hardik Pandya, and patted his back in appreciation.

SRH got off to a good start, scoring 54 runs for the first wicket thanks to a quick knock from Travis Head (48). However, following the power play, they lost their way. The SunRisers hitters struggled to score easily in the slow circumstances.

Hardik Pandya spearheaded the MI bowling attack from the start in the middle overs, always testing the opposition hitters. He finished with a magnificent spell of 4-0-31-3, derailing SRH’s innings in the middle stages. Piyush Chawla supported him superbly with a three-wicket session, limiting Hyderabad to 173/8 in 20 overs.

Piyush Chawla reflected on the first innings action, telling host broadcasters:

“Well it’s not gripping that much as dew has already come in but for the seamers there was some help. Especially this year’s IPL you see the batters going for the pitched-up deliveries so I have realised to bowl that length on any wicket. New ball will be very important. Once it goes on the outfield it will get heavy. 173 won’t be easy, we have to bat well. No there wasn’t any help for the spinners on this wicket to be honest.”
