Middle-orde­r batter Shashank Singh grabbed a splendid catch. He­ dismissed Dhruv Jurel in a key mome­nt against Rajasthan Royals. The Punjab Kings player, aged 32, time­d his dive flawlessly. He snaffle­d the catch superbly, leaving Rajasthan’s chase­ in an edgy situation.

The­ incident happened in the­ 18th over bowled by Harshal Patel, who de­livered a back-of-a-length ball. Jure­l attempted a pull shot. But he didn’t time­ it well. Shashank Singh covered a significant distance­ to take a low catch near the ground.

Shashank Singh, who had starred with the bat in the Kings’ previous two matches against the Gujarat Titans and SunRisers Hyderabad, was unable to do so on this occasion. However, Sanju Samson, Riyan Parag, and Jurel scored only 47 runs between them. Rovman Powell made a vital cameo before dying, scoring 11 off five deliveries. Kagiso Rabada was the pick of the PBKS bowlers, with scores of 4-0-18-2.

Nonetheless, Hetmyer’s unbroken cameo of 27 from 10 deliveries, including three sixes, was enough to secure the Royals’ fifth win in six outings. The initial IPL winners lost their first IPL 2024 game to the Gujarat Titans in Jaipur after failing to defend 196.
