KL Rahul would not be the series wicket-keeper, Team India head coach Rahul Dravid made clear to reporters prior to the opening Test match against England.

During the most recent Test series between India and South Africa, KL was assigned as the keeper. He batted at No. 6 in Centurion and struck a fantastic century while doing a respectable job with the gloves. For the England series, the team management has chosen to assign the wicket-keeping duties to an expert due to the home conditions.

Regarding the issue, Rahul Dravid stated:

“KL Rahul won’t be playing as a wicketkeeper in the series. I think we were quite clear about that from the selection itself. We had picked two others who could keep for us.”

In addition, Dravid discussed the hole that was created when Virat Kohli missed the first two Tests of the series. He continued, saying:

“I think you know any team will miss the quality of a player of the Virat. There’s no doubt about it. You know, he’s a phenomenal player. His record speaks for him.

“On the field, his presence is a huge boost to the side. But having said that, I think, it just presents another opportunity for somebody else to be able to step up and to be able to put in some performances.”
