Recently, KL Rahul, a member of Team India, made a trip to Udupi’s Sri Mookambika Temple. His mission? To receive Goddess Mookambika Devi’s blessings before the upcoming Test series against England.

His last appearance on the cricket ground was during the 2-match Test series in South Africa. This month, he didn’t make the cut for the T20I series against Afghanistan. Instead, the cricket organization chose to give Sanju Samson and Jitesh Sharma an opportunity for wicket-keeping.

KL Rahul did an impressive job leading the ODI team to a 2-1 win in South Africa. After that, he changed roles, playing as a wicket-keeper in two Test matches. He was sixth in the batting line-up. Rahul adjusted well to this new role proving his skills beyond batting. His fielding was excellent, too. Moreover, he shone as the batter with a stunning century in the Centurion Test, demonstrating his form.

At 31 years old, he’ll play a critical role as a batter for India in the forthcoming Tests against England here at home, thanks to his current form. Before the series, Rahul visited the Sri Mookambika Temple in Udupi.

KL Rahul should remain a middle-order hitter in Test cricket, according to former Indian batting coach Sanjay Banagar, who also said that the team will gain a lot from the switch. Bangar recently said the following on Star Sports:

“If he has to continue playing in that particular position, I think it’s going to be a huge plus for India because he is a stroke player. He has batted at various positions and he can bat very well with the tail.

Sanjay Bangar continued:

“We have seen this not only in Test cricket but in other formats of the game as well. So all those things put together indeed make KL Rahul a capable No. 6 who can put India in winning situations in Test matches.”
