Chris Gayle, a West Indian cricket great, was recently put in a difficult position when asked to pick his favorite batting partner between Virat Kohli, former RCB skipper, and AB de Villiers, South African superstar. Having shared many prolific partnerships with the two legends, Gayle found the query hard to answer in an interview with Jio Cinema. But, eventually, he chose Virat Kohli over ABD, much to the delight of countless fans worldwide. He said:

“I opened the batting more with Virat, so I am going to pick Virat.”

“Virat tried to dictate too much when I was batting and used to be like, ‘Oh Chris, come on, take it from ball one,’ and I used to say, ‘Hey youngster, take it easy. I have like 15 T20 centuries, okay, so I know what I am doing here, so take it easy,’ but it was fun to bat with.” He added.

Here is a video of Chris Gayle talking about batting with Kohli:

Chris Gayle and Virat Kohli formed a formidable partnership in the 2012 season when they put together an unbeaten 204 – the fifth-highest of all-time. In their time together at bat, they have amassed 2,787 runs, second only to the Virat Kohli-AB de Villiers duo. Throughout his tenure from 2011 to 2017 for RCB, Gayle scored five centuries and amassed over 3,000 runs, winning the Orange Cap twice in 2011 and 2012 and reaching two IPL finals in 2011 and 2016. Throughout his IPL career, the West Indian has scored approx 5,000 runs at an average of 39.72 and a strike rate of 149, including six centuries.

Virat Kohli is widely recognized as one of the most talented and successful players in Indian cricket in recent years. The cricketer, who recently gained superstar status, recently expressed his longing to experience certain childhood moments in India. In an interview with Star Sports, Kohli spoke about the one thing he, without fail, would have enjoyed doing again – walking around India. The cricketer shared that walking around his childhood country and understanding its nuances was something he missed greatly. He said:

“I won’t enter a vehicle or scooty; I would walk. I have not walked once in India, and that is something I miss so badly. During my childhood, our go-to-market was Jwala Heri in West Delhi. I used to go there regularly. I would park my scooty and roam over there, sometimes to buy jeans.”

“That’s something that I really miss. If someone gives me 12 hours, I would honestly just walk around. That’s a different joy of walking on the road, go whichever shop you want, eat or buy something. I don’t even remember the last time I walked on the road here.” He further added.

Virat Kohli has been in exceptional form this season, as demonstrated by his impressive 214 runs at an average of 71.33 and a remarkable strike rate of 147.59. He was awarded Man of the Match in RCB’s victory against the Delhi Capitals on Saturday, April 15th.
