R. Ashwin became India’s hero by smashing a century and bagging a fifer in the first India vs Bangladesh Test at Chepauk.

After the match, the legendary spinner shared a heartwarming moment with family at the ground, where he and his wife, along with his two children, exchanged hilarious comments.

The interaction starts with Prithi, Ashwin’s wife, asking the cricketer about the gift that he has in mind for his kids on Daughter’s Day.

“They want to know what you would give them on the occasion of Daughter’s Day?” asked Prithi.

Ashwin was quick to reply, promising to give the ball with which he picked the fifer in the match.

“I would give them the ball I picked up a fifer with,” Ashwin said.

But the kids weren’t happy with that and wanted something else, which they hesitated to reveal in front of the camera.

Ashwin also shared how special coming into the Chepauk again has felt. He also admitted that he hadn’t thought about scoring a ton on the Test.

“I don’t know how to react because things happened quickly. I was not expecting to score a hundred here. Coming back to this ground is special. There is something over here that keep me going,” he said.

The most hilarious part was Ashwin teasing his wife for complaining about him not seeing the family on day 1 after the session.

“She didn’t liked the fact that I didn’t see her on the first day. It’s difficult for me to look out for the family when I am involved in the game. I try to make an effort as kids keep asking me that why I didn’t say hi to them.”

Ashwin Test Records in IND vs BAN 1st Test

Ashwin scored 113 runs from 133 balls, a knock that was crucial as the home side once was crumbled by losing 3 wickets even before adding 40 runs to the scoreboard. The Chennai man continued the same form in the bowling by clinching 6 wickets in the second innings, making him the second-most player to score a ton and a fifer in a Test match. Ashwin has achieved this unique mark 4 times in his career, on less than England’s legendary cricketer Ian Botham.

Ashwin also owns the record of registering the most 5-wicket hauls in WTC since its beginning in 2019. He also equaled Australian legend Sahne Warne in the record of most 5-wicket hauls in Test history. Ashwin has done it 37 times. Only former Sri Lankan sensation Muttiah Muralitharan is in front of him with a whopping 67 fifers. With this performance, Ashwin also became the leading 8th wicket-taker in Test cricket.

What’s Next for R. Ashwin?
