The Rajasthan Royals (RR) all-rounder Ravichandran Ashwin was run-out without facing a delivery against the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) at Jaipur on Sunday, May 14.
Shimron Hetmyer clipped one down to the deep point fielder, where Mohammed Siraj sprinted over quickly and gave the ball to wicketkeeper Anuj Rawat. He caught Ashwin inches short of the crease by intercepting the ball blind-sighted onto the stumps.
They were going for a second run when they opted against it, leaving Ashwin to try to return to the striker’s end only to be run out.

Ashwin’s Dismissal Summed up to RR’s Evening
Their score in the match was the third lowest ever recorded in IPL history. The only scores lower were Bangalore’s 49 all-out versus the Kolkata Knight Riders in 2017 and Rajasthan Royals’ own 58-run all-out against the same opponent in 2009.
The dismissal summed up RR’s evening, as they were eventually bowled out for 59 in the 11th over.
Their score was the third lowest in IPL history, after only Bangalore’s 49 all-out against the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in 2017 and their own 58-run all-out against the same opponent in 2009.
Only two players reached double figures, and as many as four batters were out for duck as the Royals put on a poor performance in front of a wild home crowd.
With 12 points in 13 games, they are on the verge of being eliminated.
RR skipper Sanju Samson embarrassed after defeat to RCB
Rajasthan Royals skipper Sanju Samson was stunned when his team was defeated by the Royal Challengers Bangalore by 112 runs in Jaipur.
Samson believed that the loss of their top three batsmen, Jos Buttler, Yashasvi Jaiswal, and himself, in the first two overs of the innings had put the team in a no-comeback position.
During the post-game presentation, Samson complained about the lack of a good powerplay, which would have set up a close run chase.
“I think our top three were scoring a lot of runs, we go hard in the powerplay but it didn’t come out today,” he stated. “You need to go hard in the powerplay knowing the ball was getting slower and older, that’s the way me, Jaiswal and Jos have played throughout. Credit to the RCB bowlers for their energy and intensity. I think this was a target that could have gone to the wire, I expected a tight match if we had a decent powerplay.”
After the top three were dismissed, RR were swept out for the third-lowest total in IPL history.
The loss significantly reduces their prospects of making the playoffs, as they will need to win their last game by a large margin and have multiple other outcomes go their way.
On Friday, May 19, the Royals will face the Punjab Kings in their last encounter at Dharamsala.
