Ex-Indian cricket player, Anjum Chopra, holds the opinion that the reentry of Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma will undeniably fortify Team India’s T20I lineup, more so with the T20 World Cup around the corner. The event is to take place in the West Indies and the USA come June.
After an interval of 14 months, Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma have rejoined the T20I team, igniting discussions about whether India should have opted for a young squad for the T20 World Cup instead of reverting to their experienced players.
During a session with TOI, Anjum Chopra clarified the undeniable importance of Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli for the Indian squad in any game format.
“When you have quality players like Rohit and Virat, you just can’t question their ability and utilisation. Their presence is enough to boost the team’s confidence. They are accomplished players. They are world-beaters. India will definitely require Virat and Rohit.”
During a recent occasion at the renaming of the Saurashtra Cricket Association Stadium, BCCI secretary Jay Shah revealed that Rohit will head the Indian squad at the T20 World Cup 2024.

Anjum Chopra has identified Rinku Singh and Yashasvi Jaiswal as key performers for India in the T20 World Cup 2024 campaign.
The two left-handed bats have enjoyed tremendous starts to their T20I careers, and Chopra believes the duo’s reckless style of play will only help India’s prospects of ending their ICC trophy drought.
“Rinku Singh. The way he is performing and looking really good. We have to see how much he is able to sustain, the day he sees or faces any failure, and how he comes back. He is going to stay and be around the team and system. He is the one player the entire country looks up to. Yashasvi Jaiswal is another name. Coming from an Under-19 setup, then IPL and now he is just amazing for the Indian senior team.”
