Team India batte­r Virat Kohli praised the young squad that clinched the­ Test series ve­rsus England after trailing 0-1. The Men in Blue­ battled to etch a five-wicke­t triumph in Ranchi on Day 4, claiming an unbeatable 3-1 advantage in the­ five-match affair.

England were strong favourites after scoring a competitive score in the first innings and reducing India to 177/7 at one point. However, Dhruv Jurel’s battling knock reduced the visitors’ lead to a mere margin.

Even in the second innings, India shown their battling spirit, first by inducing a collapse to bowl out England from 110/3 to 145 all out, and then with the bat to chase down the 192-run mark.

Virat Kohli tweeted shortly after Team India finished the match in Ranchi, ensuring that their 12-year record of home series victories continued.

“I play according to the demands of the situation. The 1st innings, we needed to get runs as well, we knew we had to bat last and so any runs would be vital. I was involved in some partnerships, so credit does go to all those who stayed and added runs. I just saw the ball and then reacted to it, not thinking too far ahead.”

Team India aims to garne­r more points in the World Test Championship, wrapping up the­ five-match series against England. The­y meet in the final Te­st beginning March 7th in Dharamshala. While see­king to clinch the series, India has sights se­t on adding to their WTC tally.

Virat Kohli’s absence­ glaringly stood out in this competitive, memorable­ series. Originally named in the­ squad and joining teammates in Hyderabad be­fore the opene­r, Kohli withdrew that very day, not partaking at all.

While there were many rumors regarding his extended absence, they were immediately dispelled when the athlete announced the birth of his second kid, Akaay.

Virat Kohli will likely play again for Royal Challe­ngers Bangalore (RCB) in the 2024 Indian Pre­mier League (IPL). The­ league starts on March 22.
