Yuzvendra Chahal and Kuldeep Yadav are known as ‘KulCha’ by their supporters because of the influence they have had on Indian cricket anytime they have played together.

The duo has played multiple matches in which they completely overpowered their opponents in the middle overs, preventing them from reaching a par score. The ODI series against South Africa in 2018, which India won 5-1, was perhaps the peak of their teamwork.

Yuzvendra Chahal said on the show ‘Breakfast with Champions’ that it was Virender Sehwag who invented the term ‘KulCha’ for the two spinners, and he also revealed a statistic that startled current Indian captain Rohit Sharma. He stated:

“I think it was during the South Africa series in 2018. He (Kuldeep) took 17 wickets and I took 16. That name was given by Viru Paaji (Sehwag). Call it KulCha or ChaKu whatever. In 34 games that we played together, we took 135 wickets. Rohit Bhaiya was shocked when we told him this stat.”

Yuzvendra Chahal is also an extremely entertaining character since he is constantly involved in some sort of comical situation on the pitch. One such instance occurred in 2019 when he was not playing in a game and was just relaxing beyond the boundary line.

The stance quickly went viral, and Chahal’s style became an immediate hit. In response, the leg-spinner stated:

“(On his sleeping meme) It was 2019 and I wasn’t playing the game. So I was just chilling by the boundary. I didn’t even have the slightest of clue that it would become viral after the game.”

During the World Cup, it’ll be interesting to see if India can play Chahal and Kuldeep together
