Former Indian iconic opener Sunil Gavaskar complimented the Men in Blue’s efforts to survive the difficult group stage in New York. They had to play three games on a surface where scoring runs was tough, and Gavaskar felt India would be encouraged by the fact that they won important moments in those games.

Here’s what the former cricketer said when assessing the group stage for Star Sports:

“It was hard work in New York. They kept their cool, kept their nerve, they won close games. That shows their determination. The dedication they have shown, the way they’ve practiced between matches, and the way they’ve trained shows that this team is really keen to bring that cup back home. It will be a very happy vibe around there.”
