Virat Kohli and his family were recently sighted at Team India’s hotel in New York. They are in the city for the ongoing 2024 T20 World Cup. India played their opening match of the competition on Wednesday at the Nassau County International Cricket Stadium in New York.
The Indian cricket team known as the Men in Blue dominated their match against the Irish team securing a convincing victory by eight wickets. This win marked an impressive start to their campaign. Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma kicked off the innings but their efforts fell short during the chase of 97 runs. Virats early dismissal attempting an aggressive playstyle added a twist to the games narrative.
Virat Kohli enters the World Cup in good shape, having scored a lot of runs in the IPL 2024, where he earned the Orange Cap. His supporters would be expecting for a memorable knock from him in India’s next game on Sunday against arch-rivals Pakistan.
An X user recently released a video of Virat Kohli at the team hotel in the United States. He could be spotted going inside the hotel with his daughter Vamika and wife Anushka Sharma, holding hands.

Kris Srikkant Backs Virat Kohli to Play in the 2026 T20 World Cup at Home
Former Indian cricket player Kris Srikkanth believes that Virat Kohli is likely to continue playing T20 cricket until the 2026 World Cup which will be hosted in India. Srikkanth is confident that Kohlis exceptional fitness would easily allow him to participate in another World Cup in the T20 format alongside the ongoing one.
Srikkanth spoke on his YouTube channel about the issue:
“Is this a last chance for them to win together as a team (with Rohit and Kohli), probably yes. Keep in mind, the 2026 T20 World Cup is in India. So everybody would like to play in India.
“As far as I am concerned, the kind of fitness Virat Kohli has, he can easily play until 2026. So 2026 could be Virat’s last. For Virat Kohli, this is not the last chance. But he will be very keen because he has not won a T20 World Cup yet.”

Kris Srikkanth also mentioned another Indian senior batter, Rohit Sharma, saying:
“Whereas Rohit Sharma has won it in 2007. He wanted the ODI World Cup very badly, but he missed it. He will now be looking at the T20 World Cup, thinking he should win it for India as a captain. As a captain, winning the World Cup is a big thing.”
