Aakash Chopra praised Usman Khawaja, the ex-Australian cricketer, for his remarkable innings of 180 runs in the fourth Test against India held in Ahmedabad. Khawaja, a left-handed opening batsman, faced 422 balls and made the Indian bowlers appear powerless.

Despite the focus being on Steve Smith and Marnus Labuschagne as formidable batsmen, Khawaja demonstrated his underrated skills by scoring runs in the UAE, Pakistan, and India.

In a recent video on his YouTube channel, Aakash Chopra provided his opinion on the best visiting opener of the past few years. He placed Usman Khawaja at the top of his list. He expressed his views on Khawaja’s exceptional batting skills and his impressive performances during overseas tours. He said:

“Usman Khawaja was simply brilliant for his 180. No matter how flat the pitch is, it’s always challenging to bat for so long as it requires a lot of concentration. His wicket was a lapse in concentration, but he is the best overseas opener who has visited Indian shores in the past 7-8 years.”

Aakash Chopra commended Cameron Green for his outstanding performance in the fourth Test against India, where he scored his first Test century. Green came in to bat when Australia struggled at 170/4, providing the necessary impetus to push the scoring rate. Chopra observed that India should have tried innovative tactics to dismiss Green and missed an opportunity to unsettle him with the short ball trap.

Chopra also praised Green’s all-around abilities and predicted that he has the potential to become one of the best all-rounders in the world. Despite India being behind by a massive 444 runs in their first innings, Chopra believes that the excellent batting conditions on Day 3 offer an opportunity for the Indian top order to make a significant contribution and close the gap.
