After scoring just 21 and five runs in the third Test, the right-handed batsman scored 128 off 235, which included 12 fours and a six. He partnered with Cheteshwar Pujara to put up a 113-run partnership for the second wicket.
Shubman Gill recently achieved his first century in a Test match in India for those needing to become more familiar with it. The 23-year-old batsman scored his maiden Test hundred in Bangladesh last year. He has now taken full advantage of the opportunity after replacing KL Rahul in the playing XI. Rahul had only scored 38 runs in his three innings during the first two Tests against the opposing team.

On Day 2, Ravichandran Ashwin’s six-wicket haul helped India dismiss Australia for 480. Usman Khawaja scored 180, while Cameron Green (114) secured his maiden Test hundred.
Team India must win in the fourth Test to confirm their spot in the ICC World Test Championship final against Australia. The visitors have already secured their berth with a nine-wicket win in the third Test against India in Indore.
The hosts have secured the Border-Gavaskar Trophy and lead the series 2-1. They aim to ensure their fourth consecutive Test series win against Australia, having won the home series in 2016-17 and the away series in 2018-19 and 2020-21, all by 2-1.
