Suryakumar Yadav was the key returnees from injury for the Mumbai Indians. However, he made a duckistries against the Delhi Capitals (DC). Notwithstanding the case, on Thursday, he achieved a lot playing with good pitches and bad bowling by the opposite side.

The right-handed batsman who came to bat last on the scoreboard was at number. Sharma and Kishan gave a rock solid foundation to implement our strategy with their 101-run opening partnership. Now MI having stands strong with wickets, they attempted to recover the net run-rate and it were Suryakumar Yadav took duty as leader.

His knock contained five fours and four sixes, for a strike rate of 273.68. He hit his fifty in just 17 balls, the second-fastest of the season, trailing only Abhishek Sharma.

He appeared to be on track to win the game for MI, but his innings was cut short in the 14th over when he found deep point off Vijaykumar Vyshak’s full toss. However, he had unleashed all of the havoc in the space of just 19 balls, allowing MI to hunt down the score in 15.3 overs.

Suryakumar Yadav, who has been used as a drift player, has only his fitness and talents to thank him, as he is still recovering from an injury which he acquired during the year. He was crocked in Cape Town with a strained ankle, but subsequently took medical leave during the same tour as well to have a Hernia operation.

He was denied a fitness clearance by the National Cricket Academy (NCA) at the start of the season, forcing him to miss the first three MI games.

“It’s always good to be back at Wankhede, when the tournament started I was mentally here only, although physically in Bangalore (recovering from the injury), it felt like I never left.

“When you are chasing 200, it is important to know the dew factor and take your chances, both Rohit and Ishan did the job for us at the 10th over mark and we only knew that we had to finish early for that net run rate thing.”

MI will play the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in their third consecutive home encounter on Sunday, April 14.
