The IPL was always a platform for young players to show their value in T20 cricket over the years. Since 2008, we have seen some outstanding performances from young players all across the world with both bat and ball.
A T20 hundred requires incredible talent and attitude. Only six uncapped batters have hit a century in the IPL. This information shows the significance of the achievement.

1) Yashasvi Jaiswal – 124 (62) vs MI, Wankhede 2023
Yashasvi Jaiswal’s century was arguably one of the greatest by an RR batter. On the day, the 21-year-old left-hander was his team’s only performer no other batter scored more than 18 runs. During his time at the crease, he hit 16 fours and 8 sixes while playing some amazing strokes. Some of the cover drives surely made Sangakkara proud.

2) Paul Valthaty – 120*(63) vs CSK, Mohali 2011
CSK batted first and set a target of 189 for the hosts on a decent batting pitch. Paul Valthaty of the Punjab Kings opened partnering with superstar Adam Gilchrist. He was Punjab’s lone hitter to score more than 20 runs in the match.
Despite losing wickets frequently, Valthaty hit 19 fours and two sixes in 63 deliveries. His knock ensured that the hosts could beat the defending IPL winners with 5 balls to spare.
3 Shaun Marsh – 115 (69) vs RR, Mohali 2008
For the Punjab Kings, Australian southpaw Shaun Marsh was one of the most consistent batters of all time. He won the Orange Cap in the tournament’s maiden year. Marsh hit an amazing inning against the eventual champions at his home venue.
The left-hander batted first alongside Australian all-rounder James Hopes, putting up 133 runs for the first wicket. Marsh was simply a sheet anchor who would capitalise after he was firmly settled. In 69 deliveries, he hit 11 fours and 7 sixes, defining himself as a top-tier batter in the format.
He also shared an amazing partnership with Indian superstar Yuvraj Singh, who hit 49 off 16 balls. They set a target of 222 for the Royals and won by a large margin of 41 runs.
4) Manish Pandey – 114*(73) vs DC, Centurion 2009
Manish Pandey, a former RCB batsman, performed an outstanding lone warrior knock. The 2008 U19 World Cup champion produced a masterpiece against the Deccan Chargers’ top-tier bowling outfit. He faced the most deliveries by any batter in the IPL, a record he shares with Brendon McCullum.
Pandey smashed 10 fours and four sixes, implying that he was also good at rotating the strike. RCB won the match by 12 runs, securing third place ahead of the semi-finals.
5) Rajat Patidar – 112*(54) vs LSG, Eden Gardens 2022
For years, RCB was looking for a talented Indian batter to go alongside Virat Kohli in their lineup. They did have Devdutt Padikkal for a couple of seasons before releasing him by management. Rajat Patidar showed his worth during the group-stage matches.
Patidar produced one of the finest batter knocks in IPL playoff history. Coming in at 3, he totally destroyed the Super Giants spinners and pacers. He smashed 12 fours and 7 sixes, ensuring that the Bangalore-based franchise’s run rate was never a concern. They won by 14 runs, their first eliminator in three seasons.
