Lucknow Super Giants captain, KL Rahul, called correctly and opted to put Chennai Super Kings into bat. Mohsin Khan, the left-arm pacer, gave a terrific start by dismissing Rachin Ravindra on the very first delivery of the second over. The New Zealand batter departed without scoring.

Ajinkya Rahane (36) and Ruturaj Gaikwad (17) then provided stability with a 29-run partnership. Yash Thakur terminated Gaikwad’s tenure at the crease in the fifth over, giving Lucknow a huge advantage. Chennai Super Kings management then promoted Ravindra Jadeja to number four after they lost two wickets for 33 in five overs.
