Suryakumar Yadav a player from Mumbai Indians (MI) engaged in a lively discussion with several members of Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) inside their dressing room prior to the 2024 Indian Premier League (IPL) encounter at Eden Gardens on Saturday May 11. Both squads players interacted off the field due to rain delays in Kolkata.
Rain was expected for the match, and the clouds lived up to their reputation by appearing before of time. With the ground completely covered, even the throw could not be played, forcing participants to stay indoors.
Amidst the delay Suryakumar Yadav found himself surrounded by a cluster of individuals donned in purple among them KKR skipper Shreyas Iyer KKR head coach Chandrakant Pandit and allrounder Venkatesh Iyer.
Fellow MI batsman Rohit Sharma was spotted in the midst of a KKR contingent in the dressing room, which included Varun Chakravarthy, bowling coach Bharat Arun, Manish Pandey, and assistant coach Abhishek Nayar.
The coverings for the match are being lifted now that the rain has stopped. The umpires are now assessing the outfield and pitch to ensure that the conditions are suitable for the toss and following play.
Suryakumar Yadav represented KKR from 2014 to 2017
Despite experiencing a lack of chances during his first tenure with the Mumbai Indians (MI) Suryakumar Yadav was signed by the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) before the 2014 season. His introduction came against MI in Abu Dhabi that same year assuming the role of a lower middleorder batsman. Throughout his time with KKR in the IPL he mainly operated as a finisher except for intermittent appearances in the middle order.
Having competed in 41 matches for the franchise he managed to score a total of 608 runs boasting an impressive average of 22.52 and a striking rate of 131.89. Its interesting to note that he earned the renowned SKY nickname from the thencaptain Gautam Gambhir.
Coincidentally mirroring his debut duel with Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) his closing showdown for the franchise transpired against the formidable Mumbai Indians (MI) during the 2017 season at the renowned M Chinnaswamy Stadium.
