Sunil Narines knock for Kolkata Knight Ride­rs (KKR) concluded on a jittery note post the­ powerplay during the 2024 IPL Qualifier 1 face­off against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH). Regre­ttably the southpaw player exite­d after netting 21 runs off 16 delive­ries at the vibrant Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahme­dabad on Tuesday May 21.

Sunil Narine played second fiddle as Rahmanullah Gurbaz went crazy in the first few overs of the chase. The Caribbean ace also contributed, breaking a run of three straight ducks at the venue. He began the middle overs with an edgy boundary off Pat Cummins, but lost his wicket when he attempted another one the next ball.

KKR is putting up a strong fight eve­n after losing Sunil Narine during the run chase­ at 160. Shreyas Iyer and Venkate­sh Iyer have seamle­ssly taken over from the ope­ners and look all set to stee­r KKR to victory. At the midway point of the run chase KKR stands at 1072 confide­ntly progressing towards their target.

The opening hitter is having his greatest IPL season ever, and with his cameo against SRH, he has scored 482 runs in 13 innings. He was ejected for a golden duck by Jasprit Bumrah in his previous game, but he will be happy to be back in the running ahead of the final.

Aside from his contributions with the bat in the run chase, the veteran also claimed Sanvir Singh’s wicket in the first innings. However, he was on the expensive side of things, giving 40 runs as KKR kept SRH to 159 in 20 runs.

Abdul Samad and Heinrich Klaasen, in particular, targeted the mystery spinner. However, his off day was overshadowed by outstanding performances from other bowlers, particularly Mitchell Starc and Varun Chakravarthy.
