Gujarat Titans (GT) batsman Shubman Gill got out to a brilliant delivery from Yash Thakur during their match with Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) on April 7th. After scoring an unbeaten 89 in their last game versus Punjab Kings (PBKS), the 24-year-old was crucial for GT’s chase of 164 runs. However, Gill struggled from the start and labored to 19 off 20 balls.

His anguish came to an end as he was thoroughly castled by Yash Thakur’s quick full delivery.

Here’s the video of Shubman Gill’s dismissal:

After a fantastic IPL 2023 in which he scored 890 runs, Shubman Gill has finding the going significantly tougher this season.

In five innings, the exceptional batter has scored 183 runs at a 45.75 batting average and a 147.58 strike rate. However, with the exception of his 89* against PBKS, Shubman Gill has not played any other memorable innings, as indicated by his failure to score a half-century in the other four spells.

GT bowlers did a commendable job of restricting LSG

Following a surprising setback against PBKS, GT was on target for the majority of their bowling innings.

GT’s bowling attack was on point, dismissing LSG’s key batsmen early on. First, they got rid of Quinton de Kock in the very opening over. Then in the third over, Devdutt Padikkal too departed, leaving LSG reeling at 18/2.

KL Rahul and Marcus Stoinis rebuilt the innings through a 73-run stand for the third wicket. However, Rahul’s dismissal in the deep proved costly. Despite Ayush Badoni and Nicholas Pooran’s late cameos, LSG could only muster a moderate total of 163/5 from their 20 overs.

GT were headed by Umesh Yadav and Darshan Nalkande, who both took two wickets, with Rashid Khan adding one.

In response, GT faltered after a good opening stand of 54 by Shubman Gill and Sai Sudharsan. Kane Williamson followed Shubman Gill back to the pavilion just before Krunal Pandya took two wickets in one over, eliminating Sudharsan and wicketkeeper BR Sharath.

He then returned to end a promising fifth-wicket stand, bowling Darshan Nalkande. As things stand, GT are suffering at 82/5 after 13 overs, needing another 82 off 42 deliveries.
