Former Indian opener Virender Sehwag believes Rajasthan Royals (RR) opener Yashasvi Jaiswal has mastered the knack of transforming a fifty from star batter Virat Kohli into a huge score.

Jaiswal is presently third on the tournament’s list of most run scorers with 575 runs from 13 games with a hundred and a 98* to his name. Sehwag explained how Jaiswal did not throw away his wicket after reaching the quickest IPL fifty and instead waited to the finish to see his team home.

Virender Sehwag had spoken about Yashasvi Jaiswal’s performances for RR in an interview with Star Sports:

“Yashasvi Jaiswal is a future star. He’s learnt the art of converting 50s into 100s from Virat Kohli. Several batters throw their wickets after scoring 13-ball 50 but Yashasvi looks to build on. He’s got that temperament to play big knocks.”

Former Indian off-spinner Harbhajan Singh recently commented on Yuzvendra Chahal, the leading wicket-taker in the IPL. Singh highlighted Chahal’s exceptional performance and success in the tournament.

“Chahal’s speciality is that he bowls like an original spinner. He has a different art. He is the master of variation. He’s different from the rest of the spinners because he makes good use of the crease and is also a master of slow bowling.

“It becomes more difficult to play him in the last five overs because he bowls very wide. Chahal is a brave bowler, a champion bowler.”

Fans have been critical of Punjab Kings (PBKS) all-rounder Sam Curran, believing he hasn’t been as reliable as needed despite a staggering INR 18.5 crore price tag.

Former Indian cricketer Mohammad Kaif, on the other hand, believes the price tag had nothing to do with all-rounder’s performance. He also believes that benching top bowler Kagiso Rabada in most games was a huge error by the PBKS administration.

In response, he stated:

“Judging a player’s performance on his price tag isn’t right. Sam Curran emerged as the costliest buy because of his performances in international cricket. But the problem with Punjab is that they are keeping a tested and proven bowler like Kagiso Rabada was made to sit in the dugout for the most part of the tournament.”

Rajasthan and Punjab will square off in their last IPL 2023 league-stage game on Friday in Dharamshala, with both sides having an outside chance of making the playoffs.
