In Dharamsala, India skipper Rohit Sharma momentarily left the field owing to an injury concern caused by a bad outfield. On Sunday, October 22, the event occurred during India’s 2023 World Cup match against New Zealand at the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association Stadium in Dharamshala.

In the final delivery of the 10th over during New Zealand’s batting, Rohit Sharma attempted to stop a boundary but unfortunately slipped and injured his throwing hand.

Since the venue’s opening game of the tournament, between Afghanistan and Bangladesh, on October 7, the outfield has been scrutinized. Several players have stumbled in their efforts to keep boundaries safe. This is the venue’s fourth World Cup match.

England and Afghanistan have already criticized Dharamsala’s outfield. HPCA Secretary Mohit Sood informed ANI after the first game:

“We recently redid the whole ground and we had got in Bermuda grass which is winter grass and the first time it is used in the country the weather has been difficult for the last six months there has been a lot of rain and the winter had prolonged.”

“We are hopeful and we are working overnight to rectify the problem so that the players don’t face any issues when they are fielding. Yeah, definitely you can see it for yourself the condition has improved over the last game.”
