Riyan Parag failed to grab the valuable catch of Travis Head in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 game between Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) and Rajasthan Royals (RR) at Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium on Thursday. The missed catch came off the very first ball as the Sunrisers decided to bat first against the Royals.
Trent Boult delivered a full-length ball that swung outside off, and Travis Head hit it strongly. The heavy outside edge went directly to Parag’s left at a backward angle. The fielder used both hands but lost the opportunity. The ball ran away for a boundary, rubbing salt in RR’s wounds.
Watch the missed opportunity below:
Travis Head has scored many runs in games for his team this season. He has made 388 runs in eight matches. He hits the ball very fast, with a strike rate of 211.25. He has hit one century and two fifties. Travis Head’s good batting has helped his team score over 250 runs three times. The scores were 266, 277 and 287 runs.
However, in his past two appearances, the left-hander was dismissed cheaply by Royal Challengers Bengaluru (1) and Chennai Super Kings (13) respectively. The 30-year-old will aim to capitalize on the missed opportunity as SRH seeks to return to winning ways and qualify for the playoffs.
RR dominate SRH in powerplay in IPL 2024 match
A disciplined bowling performance helped Rajasthan Royals beat Sunrisers Hyderabad in the powerplay overs after losing the toss in the IPL on Thursday. Avesh Khan fired Abhishek Sharma, and Sandeep Sharma recalled Anmolpreet Singh early.
Sunrisers were 48 runs for 2 wickets down at that time. Head and Reddy were batting. The score was not high but they had good batters still to come.
SRH will be eager to return to winning ways after losing to RCB and CSK in their last two games. With five out of nine matches completed, they are now fifth in the points table.
Meanwhile, the Royals lead the points table with eight victories in nine matches. They would want to extend their four-match winning streak. The top teams will have two opportunities, including Eliminator 2, to reach the IPL 2024 final.
