Delhi Capitals skipper Rishabh Pant said that the loudness during the IPL 2024 match against the Kolkata Knight Riders in Vizag stopped him from making accurate DRS calls. The keeper-batter also noticed a problem with the screen.

The first opportunity to use the DRS came in Ishant Sharma’s fourth over, when Sunil Narine swung past the line. There appeared to be an edge, but the Delhi-born player did not seek a review in time, despite Mitchell Marsh’s emphatic suggestion. Shreyas Iyer nicked one in the 15th over, but the 26-year-old did not request further review.

During the post-match presentation, Pant elaborated:

“It was quite loud (the venue) and couldn’t see the timer on the screen (talking about the non-DRS moments) and there was some issue with the screen as well, there are some things you can control and some you cannot control, you just need to go with the flow.”

Sunil Narine, who started the innings, caused the majority of the damage, hitting seven fours and six sixes in 39 deliveries. Along with Angkrish Raghuvanshi, who scored 54, he contributed 104 off 48 deliveries to help Kolkata reach 272-7 in 20 overs.

Rishabh Pant said that the Capitals attempted to reduce the massive target, and that it was preferable to get bowled out in the process.

“We were just all over the place (with the ball), we could have done better, and it is one of those days I feel. As a batting unit, we talked about going hard (after the target) and that’s how we approach these games because it is better to be all-out trying to go for the total than not chase it down.”

The teenager led the way with 55 from 25 deliveries and hammered Venkatesh Iyer for 28 runs in one over. However, the Capitals were bowled out for 166, and the Knight Riders cruised to their third consecutive victory.
