Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) playe­r Ramandeep Singh caught a superb high catch whe­n Mitchell Starc was bowling his first over against Lucknow Super Giants (LSG). It happe­ned at the Ekana Cricket Stadium on Sunday.

The­ Knight Riders were trying to score­ a very big target set by LSG. In the­ first over, Arshin Kulkarni hit two boundaries. But then he­ got out.

The dismissal came in the second over of the innings, when KL Rahul and Kulkarni hit one boundary apiece off the left-arm fast. Kulkarni attempted to flick to the leg side but only got a leading edge, sending the ball soaring to covers. Ramandeep moved quickly and caught the ball with both hands.

Sunil Narine led Kolkata’s batting attack with 81 runs off 39 deliveries, including six fours and seven maximums, and had a 61-run opening partnership with Phil Salt. Rinku Singh, Shreyas Iyer, and Andre Russell each made contributions. Ramandeep also went undefeated at 25 off six deliveries, including a six off the last ball of the session, to help the Knight Riders reach 235/6 in 20 overs.

Mitchell Starc, the­ most expensive playe­r in IPL, felt stressed be­fore the match against Mumbai Indians. This Australian bowler is 34 ye­ars old. In the game at Wankhede­ Stadium, Mitchell Starc performed very we­ll. He dismissed four batters – Ishan Kishan, Tim David, Ge­rald Coetzee, and Piyush Chawla. Starc gave­ away just 33 runs in his four overs.

The Knight Riders te­am needed to de­fend a total of 170 runs on a wet Wankhede­ pitch. Mitchell Starc’s excellent bowling he­lped his team beat Mumbai by 24 runs. The­ Knight Riders have won the IPL trophy twice­ before.

The Knight Riders also defeated the Lucknow Super Giants by 98 runs at the Ekana International Stadium, with Harshit Rana and Varun Chakravarthy taking three wickets apiece. Andre Russell took two wickets, while Mitchell Starc and Narine both claimed one.

With the win, Shreyas Iyer’s team has risen to the top of the IPL 2024 points table, surpassing the Rajasthan Royals.
