Hyderabad’s left-arm spinners shone out, with Shahbaz Ahmed taking 3-23 and Abhishek Sharma 2-24. With the slow bowlers having an impact, SRH captain Pat Cummins chose to try out part-time off-spinner Aiden Markram.

While the South African went wicketless in the one over he bowled, allowing 10 runs, he quickly rose to prominence for an unusual cause.

Aiden Markram lost control of the ball while bowling the second delivery in the 13th over of the Rajasthan Royals chase. The ball ended up landing around short fine-leg and was declared a no ball. Pietersen remarked on air about the unusual delivery:

“It’s the worst ball I have ever seen in cricket. I said he’s better than a part-timer. Look at this. Where’s HawkEye?,” he cheekily went on to add as the replay was played.

While Sunrisers Hyderabad celebrated their advancement to the IPL 2024 final with a resounding victory over Rajasthan Royals, Markram experienced another disappointing outing. The 29 year old Proteas cricketer endured a disappointing IPL 2024 season. Over 10 matches he tallied 200 runs with an average of 25 and a strike rate of 129.87 clinching just a solitary halfcentury.
