Gujarat Titans (GT) spinner Noor Ahmed made his debut in the 2024 Indian Premier League (IPL) by removing SunRisers Hyderabad’s (SRH) Travis Head. On Sunday, the mystery spinner outfoxed the aggressive opener in the current match between the two teams at Ahmedabad’s Narendra Modi Stadium.
Head, who had a successful debut for the franchise against the Mumbai Indians (MI), got off to a fast start against GT. The left-handed opener started his innings with a pair of boundaries against Azmatullah Omarzai in the opening over.
The Australian hitter, however, could not inflict as much damage on the bowlers in reasonably decent batting conditions against the new ball since he remained off-strike for the bulk of the powerplay. However, he made the most of the deliveries he received, racing away to 18 runs off 12 deliveries to enable SRH reach 56 runs at six overs.
GT captain Shubman Gill brought Noor Ahmad to the attack immediately after the powerplay. The Afghanistan spinner outfoxed Travis Head with his fourth delivery. The left-handed hitter attempted a slog sweep, but the googly breached the gap and struck the middle stump.

Noor Ahmad was one of two changes made to GT’s starting XI following their crushing defeat away to the Chennai Super Kings (CSK). Noor Ahmad and Darshan Nalkande replaced Spencer Johnson and Sai Kishore in the playing XI against SRH.
Abhishek Sharma’s Quick Exit Keeps GT in the Game Following Travis Head’s Dismissal
After a disappointing powerplay, GT produced a powerful comeback in the middle overs of the match. Following Travis Head’s wicket, Rashid Khan and Noor Ahmad bowled a set of tight overs, prompting Mohit Sharma to join the bowling attack.
The veteran struck in his opening over, making his variations matter. The slower ball did the work for the wicket, as Abhishek Sharma was caught by Shubman Gill in an easy dismissal.
GT is laying on the pressure, using the choke in the middle overs. SRH’s scoring has dried up, and the South African combination of Aiden Markram and Heinrich Klaasen now share the crease. SRH are at 90/3 after 12 overs.
