Naseem Shah clean-bowled Axar Patel in India’s T20 World Cup match against Pakistan on Sunday at the Nassau County International Cricket Stadium in New York. Despite being promoted to fourth place ahead of Suryakumar Yadav, Axar failed to make an impact. He went for 20 runs off 18 balls, including one six and two boundaries.

Axar Patel was dismissed in the seventh over of India’s innings. Naseem Shah delivered a length ball to the middle stump, and Axar charged down the track. After playing two consecutive dot balls, the left-hander unleashed a crazy swing. He was nowhere near the ball as it slammed into the stumps. With the wicket, the Men in Green reduced India to 58/3 in 7.4 overs.

A precise bowling performance helped Pakistan defeat India in the T20 World Cup encounter on Sunday.

Aside from Naseem Shah, Shaheen Afridi removed India skipper Rohit Sharma, who scored 13 runs off 12 deliveries, including a six and a four. Haris Rauf removed World No.1 T20I hitter Suryakumar Yadav for seven off eight balls, caught by Mohammad Amir at mid-off, to propel Pakistan to the lead in the game.

At the time of writing, the Men in Blue were at 90/4 after 12 overs, with Rishabh Pant (40 off 27) and Shivam Dube (1 off 4).

The two sides are facing off for the eighth time in the T20 event, with India leading Pakistan 5:1 after seven games. One match was tied (in 2007).
