Rohit Sharma the illustrious leader of Team India fell victim to Shaheen Afridis lethal prowess in the powerplay of the ongoing 2024 T20 World Cup clash against archrivals Pakistan. The Hitmans early exit marked by a modest 13 runs from 12 deliveries cast a shadow over the highstakes encounter at the Nassau County International Stadium in New York on a memorable Sunday June 9.

Rohit Sharma had made a good start to the innings, dismissing Pakistan’s spearhead for a maximum in the opening over. However, momentum swung following the rain break, with Virat Kohli losing to Naseem Khan right away.

Afridi applied pressure in his second over, delivering three consecutive dot balls and even putting the outside edge into play. Rohit Sharma attempted to play his trademark flip shot as Afridi pitched it full, but he was unable to execute it as well as he had hoped.

As a consequence, instead of traveling towards the unoccupied fine leg region, the ball traveled to deep square leg, where Haris Rauf was stationed, and he cleanly caught the ball. View the dismissal right here:

Team India responded to the early dismissals by putting out Axar Patel at No. 4.
