Axar Patel, an all-rounder for Team India, bowled superbly to remove Barry McCarthy in their T20 World Cup 2024 match on June 5 at the Nassau County International Cricket Stadium. The wicket reduced the Irish team to 50/8 in 12 overs.
After the pacers dominated with the new ball, Indian captain Rohit Sharma employed spin for the first time in the 12th over. Axar Patel quickly established himself. He dismissed McCarthy with his second ball, putting Ireland on the backfoot.
Axar Patel directed a delivery towards the Irish batsman. The batter attempted a legside shot to open his scoring. Unfortunately he could only manage a top edge sending the ball towards the nonstrikers off side. Displaying impressive agility the Indian allrounder swiftly moved to his right and executed a fullstretched dive from behind the nonstriker to secure the catch with both hands. McCarthy left the field without making an impact on the scoreboard.
