Chennai Super Kings skipper MS Dhoni made an emotional statement following the team’s impressive five wicket (DLS method) triumph against Gujarat Titans in the IPL 2023 final.

The five time IPL champion captain stated that his participation in the 2024 season will be a gift from him to all of the fans who have backed him through thick and thin.

“Looking for an answer? Circumstantially, this is the best time to announce my retirement. But the amount of love I have received all over. The easy thing would be to walk away from here, but the harder thing would be working hard for nine months and try to play another IPL. It would be a gift for the fans from my side, won’t be easy on the body.”

I think they love me for what I am, they love that I am so grounded. I don’t try to portray something I’m not. Just keep it simple.”

After the Mumbai Indians, the Chennai Super Kings became the only team to win five IPL titles. Their championship match vs reigning champions GT was a nail biting drama.

Ravindra Jadeja struck Mohit Sharma for a six and a four with 10 runs needed off the final two balls to lead his team to a historic victory.
