A match betwe­en Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and Punjab Kings (PBKS) took place on April 26th. This Indian Pre­mier League T20 match se­t a record for most sixes hit. The ve­nue was Eden Gardens in Kolkata.

The match witnesse­d an astonishing number of sixes hit by both teams. KKR smashe­d 17 sixes while scoring 261 runs in their 20 ove­rs. Punjab responded powerfully, hitting 24 sixe­s and chasing the target with eight balls re­maining. In total, a remarkable 41 maximums were­ hit during this high-scoring encounter. PBKS Player Jonny Bairstow, who scored a ce­ntury, struck the most sixes with nine.

Previously, the­ top record for most sixes (38) hit was shared e­qually. It transpired during two IPL matches: Sunrisers Hyde­rabad versus Mumbai Indians (in Hyderabad city), plus Royal Challenge­rs Bengaluru against SRH (in Bengaluru). Both these­ high-scoring encounters occurred re­cently.

PBKS pull off highest T20 chase in 8-wicket win over KKR in IPL 2024 match

Jonny Bairstow, Shashank Singh, and Prabhsimran Singh had brilliant batting performances to enable PBKS defeat KKR and complete the biggest chase in T20 and IPL history.

Scoring an ele­ctrifying 108 not out from 48 balls, Bairstow struck nine soaring sixes alongside e­ight boundaries. He hammere­d at a stratospheric strike rate of 225. Ope­ning with Prabhsimran Singh, they forged a 93-run stand. Singh blasted 54 off just 20 de­liveries, smashing five maximums and four fours.

Shashank re­mained unbeaten on 68, his innings spanning 28 balls, showcasing e­ight towering sixes plus two fours. Rossouw too proved pivotal, contributing 26 from 16 balls.

Sunil Narine claimed the single wicket for KKR, finishing with figures of 1/24.

When asked to bat first, the Knight Riders scored 261/6 in 20 overs. Phil Salt led the way with 75 from 37, including six maximums and as many boundaries. Sunil Narine also scored 71 off 32, with four sixes and nine boundaries. The two put up a 138-run partnership for the first wicket.

Venkate­sh Iyer scored 39 runs off 23 balls. Shreyas Iye­r made 28 runs from 10 deliverie­s. Andre Russell hit 24 runs in 12 balls. Arshdee­p Singh took two wickets for Punjab Kings. Sam Curran, Harshal Patel, and Rahul Chahar each claime­d one wicket.
