Dinesh Karthik’s stunning 53* off 23 deliveries propelled RCB’s total to 196/8. Fiery innings indeed, helping RCB set a testing target.

Mumbai’s openers, Kishan and Sharma, responded ferociously. Kishan’s blistering 34-ball 69 powered Mumbai’s breathtaking start. The pair raced to 101 in a mere 53 balls – a truly explosive batting exhibition.

Next up was Suryakumar Yadav’s masterclass. The MI star was simply unstoppable that night. He reached his fifty in a mere 17 balls.

Skipper Hardik Pandya (21* off 6) also hit three sixes, propelling Mumbai to victory with 27 balls remaining.

With the high-scoring game officially in the books, here are three important records broken in the just finished MI vs. RCB IPL encounter.

1. First T20 inning with 3 fifties and 3 ducks

While Bengaluru’s innings of 196 was insufficient, it set a new record that has not been witnessed in almost 13,700 T20s played to date.

Faf du Plessis, Rajat Patidar and Dinesh Karthik excelled with the bat, scoring 61, 50 and 53 not out respectively. However, their teammates Glenn Maxwell, Mahipal Lomror and Vijaykumar Vyshak failed to trouble the scorers. All three of them recorded ducks.

Remarkably, RCB’s performance versus Mumbai stands out as an unprecedented scenario. Three batters scored half-centuries, while an equal number of players registered a duck. This occurrence marks a singular event in the annals of T20 cricket.

2. Suryakumar Yadav becomes first Indian with 3 T20 fifties at a strike rate of 250+

Suryakumar Yadav dazzled the spectators at Wankhede Stadium. His scintillating innings proved his remarkable comeback. The crowd witnessed his amazing batting prowess.

In only his second competitive match in several months, SKY dominated the RCB bowlers, hitting five fours and four maximums. Despite coming out to bat with five fielders on the boundary, he created spaces as only he can and scored his 22nd IPL fifty in just 17 balls.

Thus, he’s the lone Indian cricketer to smash 3 T20 fifties with an incredible strike rate exceeding 250. His other two rapid fifties came representing India in T20 Internationals – 68* off just 26 balls versus Hong Kong, and a blistering 61 off a mere 22 deliveries against South Africa.

In addition to his impressive performance of 52 off 19 balls, the 33-year-old reached 7,000 T20 runs.

3. Jasprit Bumrah becomes first player to take a five-wicket haul vs RCB in IPL

Another day, another ‘Jasprit Bumrah’ special to enjoy with the fans. The MI pacer had an economy rate of 5.2 on a day when over 400 runs were scored in little over 35 overs.

Bumrah’s skill was on full display once again as he manipulated his lines and lengths on a surface that provided little relief to the bowlers. Regardless, RCB bats surrendered to Bumrah’s class, who finished with figures of 5/21.

Interestingly, Bumrah is now the first player in IPL history to take a wicket against the Challengers.

Bumrah leads the pack when it comes to wickets against RCB. He debuted in IPL versus Bengaluru and now owns the milestone. During only 19 innings, he captured 29 wickets, overtaking Harbhajan Singh tally of 27.
