Australia captain Pat Cummins presented Cheteshwar Pujara with a signed Australian team’s Test jersey to honor the Indian batter for playing the 100th Test on Sunday.

Pujara got out for a duck in the first innings but made up for it in the second innings. He remained unbeaten on the score of 31 and finished the chase in style with a boundary to seal the game for India. Pujara’s 100th Test turned out to be a memorable outing for him as the veteran batter came to the fore on a tricky surface and scored the winning runs for the side. The Australian jersey was signed by all the squad members on tour and had a message for the Indian ace, reading, “Thanks for all the great battles.”

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) gave fans a glimpse of the Australian players’ great gesture by posting the following on their Twitter handles. It was worth nothing as India also did the same for the veteran spinner Nathan Lyon during the famous Gabba Test 2021 on reaching his milestone.

Speaking after the match’s conclusion, Cheteshwar Pujara said it was a special moment for him and his family in attendance, who came to witness his 100th Test match in person. In the post-match presentations, Pujara said:

“It’s been a great Test Match. Unfortunately, I didn’t get a lot of runs in the first innings. It’s a special feeling. My family has been watching the game. I was a bit nervous. It feels very special that we have won the game and to score the last boundary. We’re very well-balanced in the series.”
