Cheteshwar Pujara, a prominent player on Team India, will receive his 100th Test cap in a highly important event in his cricket career against Australia on the 17th of February. The second Test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy will take place at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi on Friday.

Pujara failed to make an impact in the initial Test in Nagpur, only accumulating seven runs in 14 balls. He was caught out by a short-leg fielder when he attempted to sweep a harmless delivery from Todd Murphy.

The upcoming Test match for Pujara offers an opportunity to set several personal records. Let’s examine three of them.

Pujara has a special affinity for the Aussies, having scored 1,900 runs in 21 matches, the most against any Test side, with an average of 52.7. Pujara is on the brink of reaching the 2,000 runs milestone against Australia and will be the fourth Indian batsman to do so, following in the footsteps of Sachin Tendulkar, VVS Laxman and Rahul Dravid.

The competition between Cheteshwar Pujara and Nathan Lyon has been an enthralling one for viewers. Despite not clashing in the Nagpur Test, they have gone up against each other in 28 Test innings, with Pujara collecting an impressive 521 runs (his highest against any bowler) with an average of 52.

It is noteworthy that if Pujara accumulates 11 more runs in the next match against Lyon, he will be the batsman who has scored the most runs off one bowler in Test matches since 2000.

Cheteshwar Pujara is due to become the thirteenth Indian to play in a hundred Test matches on Friday. VVS Laxman is the current holder of the record having made sixty-four runs in his hundredth Test, which was against Australia in November 2008. If Pujara can score sixty-five or more runs in an innings during the Delhi match, he will break the record for India.
