In the IPL 2024 match between Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) and Rajasthan Royals (RR), SRH bowler Bhuvneshwar Kumar bowled a great first over. He got out Jos Buttler and Sanju Samson. This helped SRH defend their big score of 202 runs. The match was played at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium on May 2.
So far, Bhuvneshwar Kumar has been playing badly. He has taken only five wickets in nine games. He did not take any wickets in his first three games. The new ball bowlers of RR were great in the first six overs when SRH was batting. We expected the same from SRH bowlers as well. But Bhuvneshwar Kumar did better than expected.
After surrendering a single to Jaiswal to begin his over, the experienced bowler removed Jos Buttler for a first-ball duck. The English opening batsman attempted to cut the ball through the off side against a length delivery but nicked it to first slip. Marco Jansen made a legal catch to secure SRH’s first breakthrough.
A few deliveries later, Bhuvneshwar Kumar pierced Samson’s resistance with a powerful inswinger. The right-handed hitter got caught all ends up after merely leaving an outswinger on the prior ball. Samson left the middle stump on the ground as he went for a three-ball duck. View the dismissals right here:
Bhuvneshwar Kumar bowled the last ball of the over as a dot. Riyan Parag came to bat with Yashasvi Jaiswal. They tried to keep Rajasthan Royals’ winning streak going while chasing the target. The score was 1-2 at that point.
Bhuvneshwar Kumar has dismissed Jos Buttler seven times in T20 cricket
The England white-ball captain is Bhuvneshwar Kumar’s bunny. The right-arm pacer has dismissed the batter many times before. In 2023, Kumar bowled out the explosive opening batter when England played India. This event marked the first time Bhuvneshwar got him out in the Indian Premier League (IPL). The batter has had trouble facing Bhuvneshwar’s bowling over the years.
In international cricket, Bhuvneshwar Kumar has dismissed Jos Buttler five times: three times in the 2021 subcontinent series and twice during India’s trip of England. Overall, the batsman has scored 104 runs in 92 deliveries with a strike rate of 113.04 in the shortest format.
